We finally had rain this winter after several years of drought; our golden hills are now lush and green and the sweet aroma of wisteria and honey suckle trees seem to gently assault our nostrils wherever we adventure. The sun is finally back to celebrate the renewing of season and we are all eager to get out and frolic in the soft spring breeze.

For the occasion, we’ve selected some of our favorite Northern California gems for you to enjoy whether you live nearby or plan a visit to the Golden State.

Located on the scenic coastal Highway 1, Santa Cruz Historic Wilder Ranch State Park hosts a charming Victorian dairy farmhouse on 7,000 coastal acres. You can hike among California wild flowers, Douglas Firs and Redwood trees, or stroll along the marine terraces and canyons to watch seals and sea otters, dolphins and occasionally the migrating humpback whales.

Enjoy a weekend brunch at Oakland’s popular Grand Lake Kitchen, which place puts an elevated twist to brunch classics with their Pastrami Benedict, Pork Belly Ash, Savory French Toast and Crab & Avocado Toast among other favorites. The quaint restaurant faces Oakland’s beautiful heart-shaped Lake Merritt. The lake became the first official wild life refuge in 1870s and is surrounded with arresting Hispanic Art Deco architecture.
